Have you ever made a statement about something that you firmly believe in, only to have to end up eating your words?! Well, that's ME...and I will admit it! I had my Pantech (regular, non-internet-GASP, I KNOW!) phn for 4 years...Jim would try and get me to go look at new ones, but I refused...why would I waste my time, I'm quite happy with the one I have. But, eventually wear and tear has taken a toll on my good ole' Pantech, so, I knew it was prob a better idea to upgrade. I was never going to indulge in a smart phn tho...I mean, why do we need one? We have a computer, laptop, iPAD and iPOD all at home that do all the same thing...EXCEPT MAKE A PHN CALL...hmmm, isn't that what a cell phn is REALLY for?!
Well, this high tech generation is a bit too indulged if you ask me... I realized there were kids 9yrs old and younger that had iphones...and then there's the ever annoying lunch/dinner outting/gathering with family or friends, and you sit there in silence while everyone is totally engaged in their iphones for Facebook...I felt so out of place! Just about everywhere I went (stores, bus stops, shops, gym, etc) everyone had one too, and everyone was totally engaged in it (not paying attn to their surroundings). Then it dawned on me...
if you can't beat 'em, join 'em...so I did...Now AT&T didn't have much of a selection left of regular cell phones (why would they when everyone has iphones), but yet a pluther of iphones...and with that, I introduce my new Samsung Galaxy...I caved...luckily my best friend has the SAME one so she can teach me how to use it...:)
As for my 8 and 10 yr old...I have to set some bounderies...they can wait even tho their whole generation seem to have iphones...my daughter is starting middle school, and with that, we got her a regular cell phn. because the only purpose for her to have it, is for me to get in touch with her...if she wants the internet, well, she can go home where we have an abundance of internet access devices that I mentioned above...I told her when she is 16, then she can upgrade to internet phone..and just think, by then they will have probably invented something totally new and better...no doubt! So for now, I eat my humble pie...and I am finally in touch with the 21st century!
